Infinite Explorations

February 1, 2013

Juggling a lot of different stuff such as the mech game and relearning Unity and C# since the last Unity4  release. Also I just downloaded the 11.5 upgrade to my Lightwave software so that is going to be exiting!

In between I’ve been learning new software such as the Mandelbulber program which easily creates 3D fractals and is free. This is my first fractal animation with this software. I hope I can get better at exploring as well as with the formulas generator.

Uploaded some videos to Facebook last summer just for fun after playing around with the last Lightwave release. Hadn’t done anything with those so this update is a compilation of 7 or 8 videos showing off some of the new goodies.

It’s unrefined and I feel like I might continue the series which only got up to about 6 different sessions. This is basically what was posted onto facebook last summer; including Psychocandy 1-6 comped together. What could be done for 7? Dunno! But here’s what turned up metaphorically. See if you can guess when one ends and the other begins!

Psychocandy 1-Introlude
Psychocandy 2-Gear Muncher
Psychocandy 3-Back Rub
Pschocandy 4–Bug Fix
Pschocandy 5-Slow Emotion
Psychocandy 6-Wake Awake
Ball Bearing…

The music(“Introlude”) is from some stuff I did a long time ago when I was at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.  Might use this visual technique to nail down something more concrete and meaningful but for now just seeing the results is funny!

I’ve been using my new sketchbook to visualize a cartoon pilot I wrote called  “Stewpid”.  Also doing some other sketches.   Might color some of these up later, meanwhile if you want to read this pilot let me know.  It is HI-larious!

Just updating this blog with some new sketches in the new sketchbook I got. That’s all!

Been busy the last few months with conferences and networking.

Just coming off a trip to Dallas Comicon which really shouldn’t qualify as a networking event, but I met animator/director Ralph Bakshi there and saw quite a bit of artists and cosplayers there as well.

Also attended the 3DCamp Houston which was great. I met a lot of people in all areas of 3D work and was introduced to some 3D printing goodies.

There was the always informative TEDx held in Sugarland(another one will be in Houston in Nov.) the same day we received the news about Neil Armstrong. Nevertheless, we were treated to some great performances, lectures, and FOOD!

Startup Houston was the first of my tour of local conferences and I’d have to say it was just OK. The location was kind of cramped and it seemed as if some more organization might be needed in the local chapter. Once again though, they were on point with the catering! I hope to attend one or all of these affairs again next fall. What an ad-vent-ure!

CG for Free! ?

August 13, 2012

Hey people! Nevermind the title of this post. It’s actually “freeways”, should have been the title. So I’ve been working on various working freeway examples. Different loops and such. They are nicer than before and you can see some textures are starting to form! Otherwise I’m SUPEE exited about the new Lightwave update. I watched them streaming from Siggraph last week. Really blew my mind!
